Inspired partially by the video for You Me At Six's Loverboy, and partially by spy movies. There wasn't anything similar out there, so I thought, "Why not go for it?"
"Why are you here?" I asked bitterly. He was too late. Too late to save me from the rough beatings of my former cellmate. Too late to stop me from being sent to jail in the first place. He reached out to stroke my bruised face. I jerked away from him. "You didn't try and save me the day I was arrested. Why are you here now?" I asked him. "It may come as a surprise to you, but our society isn't perfect." He began slowly. I laughed at him. "A surprise? Uh, hello, I'm sitting in a prison cell for something I didn't do." He just looked at me. "Our society is in danger." I was about to make a smart comment, but he interrupted me. "And you're going to help save it."We are the "Undesirables". The ones that society shut away from public view because we were different.
We were arrested in public and humiliated. But we hadn't a clue why. We later discovered that we had been arrested in an attempt to remove the "undesirables" from society. Anyone who didn't fit in with their idea of society was removed. Some were killed. And we were arrested. The public were told that we had committed various crimes. But somebody got us released, saying that the evidence wasn't conclusive.
And then they framed us. They framed us for the murders of the other undesirables. The evidence was wholly conclusive, and we were essentially locked up and the key thrown away. But then things started to go wrong. A terrorist threatened to topple society, and they needed spies to get in there and find out their plans. We were perfect, as everyone was convinced we were locked up. Nobody expected us to be spying on anybody.
We were covertly released from prison and brought to a training centre. Spying's a dangerous job, and we could be killed very easily. But we have to, for our freedom.
