NBA Summer League Game 2 Open Thread: Rockets Vs. Wizards

LAS VEGAS -- The Washington Wizards will look to bounce back from their opening-game loss to the Atlanta Hawks in the 2012 NBA Summer League when they take on the Houston Rockets tonight. The game will tip off at around 10 p.m. EST and be available on CSN Washington and NBATV. (Apologies for the initial error).

The Rockets are one of the deepest squads in Las Vegas, with three first-round picks and several experienced NBA players. When you can bring guys like Jeremy Lamb and Terrence Jones off the bench, you know you're loaded. They have tons of players you probably know -- first-year starter Chandler Parsons, Lamb, Jones, fellow 2012 first-round pick Royce White, 2011 first-round pick Marcus Morris -- but their best guy is probably someone you don't: Donatas Motiejunas. The Lithuanian big man was a revelation in the Rockets' 93-81 win over the Toronto Raptors on Friday, scoring 25 points, dominating in pick and roll and even flashing a perimeter game most didn't think he had. He will be a very tall challenge for Jan Vesely, assuming Vesely actually guards him.

This game offers a ton from an individual matchup standpoint. The obvious battle will be between Bradley Beal and Lamb, since they were both shooting guards drafted in the lottery. There's Vesely and Motiejunas, as noted. There's also Chris Singleton against Parsons, who is exactly the kind of player I wish Singleton could become. Finally, you have Shelvin Mack and Tomas Satoransky against a couple Rockets who could get invitations to camp: Courtney Fortsen and Scott Machado.

Win or lose, here's hoping for a stronger overall performance.
